Telecom boom has  made SMS an important channel and medium of advertising and promotions for companies and brands. Telecom operators have been offering bulk SMS  services to cater to such  segments. Following  the footsteps of private telecom companies BSNL has introduced ‘ Pragathi Bulk SMS ‘ scheme in Katnataka circle. Presently it has introduced two plans for bulk SMS. In the first plan SMS are being offered for 15p/ SMS for sms less than one lakh and in the second plan sms are charged at 10p/ SMS for SMS more than one lakh sms.An advance payment of Rs 10000 has to be made to avail this offer and SMS to be send should be in multiple of 5000. This offer is in addition to the existing plans of bulk SMS where customers can by bulk sms from 5000 to 50000. Pragathi Bulk SMS will attract customers having demand of SMS of quantity more than fifty thousand at lower rates. At the same time there are  numerous marketing companies which offer sms marketing solutions at much lower prices and offer  customized  and innovative services.
