Wynn telecom is the recent entrant in the indigenous handsets market. The company commenced its journey with an ambitious
target of becoming one of the top three mobile handset brands by March 2011. The coveted place which Wynn telecom wants to occupy is backed up by their excellent performance of selling about 100,000 units in forty days of their launch. The company has roped in Saif Ali khan and Bipasa basu as its brand ambassador. The price range which the company offers is quite competitive looking at the recent matrix of the telecom sector and its ranges between Rs 1400 to Rs 4200. The “win it all’ campaign has been able to catch satisfactory number of eyeballs. The ad messages differ according to their different models available in the market. Like Y20 and Y30 talks of long battery back up and dual SIM whereas the Y50 model claims to have distinctive features most importantly its social networking applications like twitter and facebook. This would probably allure the youth segment of the country. Y50 model mobile phone from Wynncom features dual SIM capacity with two GSM networks SIMs functioning simultaneously. QWERTY keypad is present in this phone with track ball. Multimedia features like Mp3 player, FM radio and video players are present. FM radio is also featured with schedule recording option. Video recording can be done with 2Mega pixels camera with flash. This is the most celebrated variant from Wynn telecom.
It has also launched Indias first Hindi QWERTY keypad phone. It is very well targeted to the tier 2 and 3 cities customers. The company has also launched a free SMS application in collaboration with 160by2.
The company has a well established distributor network of about 450 plus distributors and more than 300 service points. Moreover the sales team strength of about 400 executives brings it at par with the big players in the Indian handset market. The anticipations are high for this new player but the already existing 50 odd brands (Acc. To Voice and data annual telecom survey) in the Indian handset market makes the competition tougher.
