BSNL Tamilnadu extends 3G Data and Video Call services to 2G GSM customers
BSNL Tamilnadu has announced extension of 3G Data and Video Call services to its 2G GSM customers. This move will enable Tamilnadu customers to experience the facilities being offered under next generation 3G mobile services. Customers with 3G ready mobile handset can now enjoy the video call facility and access high speed 3G data services at speed upto 3.6 Kbps. BSNL has extended video call facility to 2G Prepaid customers by default and existing 2G prepaid plans are allowed for 3G services too.
BSNL video call charges are 70p/minute for local video calls and Rs 1/ minute for STD video calls. However, incoming Video Calls are Free in Home network. 3G/2G data charges beyond the free usage limit are at 1p/10KB. Customers may simply choose “Automatic / Dual mode” in “Network setting” in their mobile handset to view the 2G / 3G Network symbol.
How to activate BSNL 3G Mobile Services
New or existing 2G customer can activate 3G data services as below.
To activate : Send SMS “ACT3G” to 53733. On receipt of the SMS he will be provided with 3G Data speed after termination of any 2G Data voucher which is in use.
To Deactivate : Send SMS “DACT3G” to 53733.
Alternatively, customers may directly recharge the 3G data RCVs (MRP 275, 439, 606, 716, 1102, 1499). In order to shift back to 2G again, recharge with any 2G Data RCV. While activating from 2G speed to 3G speed and vice versa, during the validity period, of the respective Data RCV, the left out volume of Data, availed through Data vouchers, in the respective speed, will be nullified. Even after expiry of 3G Data RCV, subscriber will continue to get 3G Data speed till he uses a 2G Data RCV.
