Tata Indicom launches ULTA SMS Pack
This ULTA pricing doesn’t confirm with our normal understanding of more value= higher price and less value = low price. Rather it’s just reverse of that i.e. more value= low price and less value= high price.
Tata Indicom the CDMA brand of TTSL has now applied its ULTA pricing concept for SMS too after a successful launch of ULTA plan for voice calls. This unique and innovative pricing had earlier helped Tata Indicom to break the clutter and in differentiated positioning.
Now the company has introduced another unique ULTRA SMS pack for its prepaid customers. This ULTRA SMS PACK allows cutomers to send STD SMSes @ 5 paise/SMS while local SMSes will be charged @ 10paise/SMS. Thus STD messaging becomes cheaper than local.
ULTA SMS PACK is similar to Ulta Plan, where in STD calls are cheaper than local calls. By availing this pack, customers can send STD SMSes at 5 paise/SMS and local SMSes at 10 paise/SMS up to 100 SMSes per day. Post sending 100 SMSes per day, all local SMSes will be charged at Rs 1/- per SMS and STD SMSes at Rs 1.5/- per SMS. While on roaming SMSes will be charged at Rs 3/- per SMS and ISD SMSes will be charged at Rs 5/- per SMS.
To activate ULTA SMS PACK, pre-paid customers have to send an SMS ‘SMSULTA’ to 12524. Subscription charges of this pack are Rs 11/- for 30 days. ULTA SMS PACK will be activated and benefits will be credited to customer within 48 hours.
“Our pre-paid customers have high propensity to consume mobile services and are looking for solutions that give them the flexibility to use mobile services as per their need. It is a known fact that text messaging is the most widely used data application and our customers have a constant desire to connect & share with their large network of friends; peer group and family. It is used as an important device to lead a life of their choice” Mr Sanjeev Khera Regional Head- South Hub & Chief Operating Officer for Karnataka Circle, Tata Indicomsaid.
“Till now, due to voice text pricing parity sending STD SMSs was considered expensive. Keeping this in mind, we have launched ULTA SMA PACK which offers competitive tariff that makes STD messaging cheaper than local messaging. With this proposition, we believe that our customers will take up to this medium in a big way,” Mr Sanjeev Khera added.
