Idea launches affordable mid-range Android based 3G smartphones

Idea Cellular today launched two affordable and mid-range 3G Phones at an event here in Mumbai. The newly launched Idea 3G Phones “Blade” & “Id 280” running Google Android 2.2 OS (Froyo) are priced at Rs. 5850 and Rs 7992. Customers choosing to buy these 3G phones will also get free Data Services worth Rs.3500. This is an introductory offer for both prepaid and postpaid customers which may be availed through Rs. 259 pack.  Idea 259 pack will provide 1GB monthly free data usage for three months, free Idea TV subscription for three months, 3G Double Dhamaka benefits for 6 months, and Talktime of Rs. 25. Considering the benefit of Rs.3000, overall cost of Idea 3G smartphones will get reduced to an attractive level of Rs.2609 and Rs.4751.

These Idea 3G mobile phones offer average specifications which is justified compared to price at which they are being offered. These phones run on Android 2.2 Froyo OS, sports a 3.2 MP Camera, Touchscreen (3.5” & 2.8” Screen size), GPS Navigator software, FM radio and MP3 Player, WiFi, Bluetooth, Social Media Apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Orkut, browser Operamini, and pre-loaded Google and Youtube, besides a range of other high-end smartphone features and Idea TV. The handset devices can operate as mobile phone, mini computer, and also acts as a Wi-Fi router.
In August’11, SSTL , provides CDMA mobile services with the brand MTS , had introduced two affordable and mid-range Android phones in India. The mobile phones – MTS MTAG 3.1 and MTS Livewire both are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S1 processors and run on CDMA EV-DO Rev A. Both are priced in the sub Rs. 5000 category.
