How to connect MTNL & BSNL 3G Data cards to Windows 8 laptops & PC?
Users of MTNL and BSNL data cards are facing a lot of problem in using their 3G data cards on Windows 8 operating system. One of the major issue is that 3G dongles from MTNL and BSNL are not updated with latest drivers for Windows 8 OS and also both MTNL and BSNL are laggards when it comes to responding to new technological upgradations. As most of the new laptops and PCs come with the latest operating system from Microsoft users are unable to get proper solution from these operators. But now they can now run their 3G datacards on Windows 8 OS platform by following these steps.
Now if your MTNL/BSNL data has installed and not running then follow from Step No 7 , but if your data card is detected in your laptop and not getting installed then you start from Step 1 .
Step 1 : First insert the data card in the USB port and then Go to ‘Computer ‘ and right click to choose Properties. Then select ‘Device Manager’ and click on ‘ Universal Serial Bus Controller’.
Step 2 : Now select HSPADataCard WMC Bus Driver ( you will see a yellow triangle if drivers are not properly installed)
Step 3 : Now right click and go to Properties
Step 4 : Under Properties click on Driver tab and click on ‘ Update Driver’
Step 5 : Now click on ‘ Search automatically for updated driver software’
Step 6 : You will get this window once the driver is updated.
Once the drivers are updated go to ‘computer’ and click on MTNL/BSNL icon you will see on the window and run setup.
Step 7: After proper installation of 3G data card right click on the icon and select Properties
Step 2- Under Properties menu click on ‘Compatibility’
Step 8: Now check the check box’ Run this program in compatibility mode’ and choose Windows XP ( Service Pack3)
Step 9: Now see the menu’ Privilege Level athe bottom and check the checkbox ‘Run the program as an administrator’. Click Apply and OK. Now you are ready to connect your data card.
In case of MTNL please make sure you have updated APN which is ‘mtnl.net’ as preinstalled APNs are older ones. You make a new profile with APN ‘mtnl.net’ and keep *99# in the dialling number.
