Nowadays, it is good to see neck-to-neck competition among Indian handset brands to position their handset brand aiming to grab a bigger pie. Gone are those days when we were talking about Samsung vs Nokia Vs others. The market dynamics has changed a lot, thanks to entrepreneurial enthusiasm shown by domestic mobile phone brands mainly Micromax, Lava and Karbonn Mobiles.
Here we discuss two 5-inch smartphones (phablates) – Micromax A116 Canvas HD and Lava XOLO A1000 which have been recently launched priced below Rs.14,000. Specification wise there is cut-throat competition between these phones but there are other factors to consider.
Both these dual SIM devices run latest version of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and sports 5 inch IPS HD display with 1280x720p resolution. The memory components i.e. 1GB RAM and 4GB ROM along with other components like microUSB slot, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi support, 3G data connectivity and GPS are common to both the devices.
Considering the processing power, Micomax A116 Canvas HD provides superior 1.2 GHz quad-core processor compared to XOLO A1000’s 1GHz dual-core processor. On imaging side, both the phablates equip 8MP rear camera. Here, Micromax A116 Canvas HD offers 2MP front camera compared to 1.2MP front camera of XOLO A1000.
On 3G connectivity side, Micromax A116 Canvas HD provides HSPA+ connectivity enabling download/upload speed upto 21Mbps/11Mbps. Whereas, XOLO A1000 provides downloads/uploads at 7.2Mbps/5.76Mbps. XOLO A1000 provides slightly better Battery (2100 mAh) whereas Canvas HD has 2000 mAh battery.
Micormax has already sold* first lot of A116 Canvas HD and presently out of stock. At given price point, Micromax A116 Canvas HD is first choice of smartphone lovers compared to any other brand.
