Mobile customers switching to Reliance Comm for data services.
Reliance Communications , which so far has been the biggest loser in Mobile Number Portability, seems to be bucking the trend as more number of customers are now switching to Reliance owing to its recent reduction of data charges. Reliance’s gamble of making 3G tariffs equivalent to 2G seems to be paying off as it attracted most number of MNP customers on its GSM network in eight circles and secured second position in four circles in the month of September’13. Reliance ,which is mostly decked at the bottom in MNP space, has net loss of than 51.93 lakh customers across gsm and cdma services till Sep’13 but now it seems set to salvage its position with its data portfolio and attractive tariffs for iPhone 5S and 5C. Also reluctance by bigger players like Vodafone and Airtel to slash their data tariffs to match Reliance’s tariffs is also helping the company to attract mobile users which want data at cheaper rates for their smartphones and tablets. With Reliance, customers are able to get 1 GB data for just Rs 123 at 3G or 2G networks making it the most economic data pack in the market.
The circles in which Reliance GSM services beat other operators to take lead position are Karnataka with 37815 MNP customers , Mumbai with 20342. Tamil Nadu ( Incl Chennai) with 20634, Gujarat 19166, Orissa with 10619, West Bengal with 17667 , Kolkata with 8035 and HP with 642. In Rajasthan, MP, Maharashtra and Assam it remained the second most attractive choice for switching.
Reliance Comm scored highest MNP customers in these circles in Sep’13
