Wireless Subscriber Base crosses 969.89 mn in March’15

India’s  total telecom subscriber base has crossed 996.4 mn at the end of March 2015. With net additions of 9.19 mn it has increased from 987.3 mn in Feb’15 to 996.49 mn in Mar’15 with monthly growth rate of .93%.  Wireless subscriber base has increased from 960.58 mn in Feb’15 to 969.89 mn in Mar’15 with highest net additions by Bharti ( 2.8mn) followed by Idea Cellular ( 2.3mn). Bharti Airtel leads telecom space with 23.30% market share & 226 mn customers in wireless segment  followed by Vodafone with 183.4 mn customers and 18.95% market share. Rcom added 1.6 mn customers while Vodafone acquired 1.3 mn in the month of Mar’15.

In wireline segment total base declined from 26.72 mn in Feb’15 to 26.59 mn in Mar’15. Telecom PSU BSNL witnessed surrender of 2.25 lakh wireline connections taking its subscriber base to 16.4 mn while MTNL added 30,962 new wireline customers in Mumbai & Delhi in the same month.

Broadband segment had 1.83 mn new customers with total base increasing from 97.37 mn in Feb’15 to 99.20 mn in Mar’15. Bharti Airtel leads broadband segment with 22.01 mn subscribers followed by Vodafone with 19.37 mn and BSNL with 18.88 mn.
