Airtel launches Wi-Fi App ‘Airtel Hangout’ for its data customers
Bharti Airtel , India’s largest mobile operator, has launched its Wi-Fi app Airtel Hangout to offer superior internet experience to its customers. Due to network congestion and lack of adequate spectrum offloading customers on Wi-Fi network is one of the key strategies for mobile operators to continue to provide superior quality of data network. This way customers do not use mobile data network in areas where operator’s Wi-Fi network is available. Airtel has introduced Wi-Fi in eight locations in Delhi where it is the leading operator with more than 1.09 cr mobile customers as on Jul’15. Airtel Wi-Fi app ‘Airtel Hangout ‘ is available from Android as well iOS platform.
After successful installation of the app Airtel user will have to validate his phone number to access Wi-Fi service from Airtel. Post validation whenever Airtel customer is near an Airtel Wi-Fi zone, he will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network if he has given his consent to auto connect else he will get notified about the Wi-Fi network and he can connect to the network manually. They can make these necessary settings under the app preference settings. Airtel customers will just need to have an activated Airtel 3G/4G pack/plan since the Wi-Fi data consumption will be charged from this pack/plan.
Airtel Wi-Fi is available at DLF Cyber Hub – one of the best eatery hubs in Delhi/NCR, to all users across mobile operators having Wi-Fi compatible devices and it will allow users a free quota limit of 25 MB per day per device. Users have to just switch on Wi-Fi on their device settings and connect to the Wi-Fi named “AirtelWiFiZone”. Post exhaustion of the 25 MB quota, the Wi-Fi will be available exclusively to Airtel customers via the Airtel Hangout app. Airtel’s other Wi-Fi zone locations in Delhi/NCR include Khalsa College, Gangaram Hospital, DLF Star Mall, DLF Grand Mall, Supreme Court, Delhi High Court and Khan Market. Airtel had also recently won the mandate for the launch of Wi-Fi services in MG Road, Sadar Bazaar, Sector 29, Sirhaul Village and Leisure Valley Park from the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG).
