TRAI launches new Mobile Apps and Web Portal

Telecom regulator TRAI has launched new mobile applications for mobile customers and a web portal for service providers from broadcasting sector. It has also revamped its own website to make it more user friendly with string of new features. The first mobile app is TRAI MyCall which allows mobile users to rate their voice call and share information with respect to environment in which call is made like indoor, outdoor or while travelling.  This crowd sourcing model will help TRAI analyse voice quality and network data in real time. Users can select the frequency of the pop-up that asks for rating and other information.

TRAI has introduced new version of its mobile app TRAI MySpeed which has already crossed more than a million downloads. Mobile users can check the data speed of 3G/4G network of the service provider. TRAI collects the data anonymously and this crowdsourced data can be seen in a proper format on its website. TRAI’S DND 2.0 App  has been equipped with intelligent spam detection engine for SMS and the data collected enables the regulator to identify unregistered telemarketers.

The new web portal designed for service providers from broadcasting and cable services will help them to submit reports online and update them regularly on TRAI’s latest initiatives. It will also assist the regulator to create consolidated database of service providers comprising of broadcasters, DTH operators, HIT operators, multi service operators and local cable operators.

TRAI has also revamped its website with host of new features such as free online subscription of TRAI’s releases, online submission of comments, blog for registered users, online registration for open house sessions etc.
