Hi, first i would like to thank u for this useful article. i am using mtnl 3g services and want to connect internet on laptop through my samsung mobile. I try the same way as you have suggested but i was not able to enter this advance setting "for prepaid, enter at+cgdcont=1,”ip”,”gprsppsmum” in the extra initialization commands" as write option was disabled.
If I try to connect without these settings then it was not working. Moreover when i connect my phone with laptop and go to set the internet connection properties, it doesn't show the option for MTNL. Should i choose BSNL? Hope to hear from you soon.

Hello Friends,

I am a new user for this forum. I am using trump 3g HSDPA services. In my mobile, GPRS are working fine and I am also able to open any of website. On yesterday I tried to use my Nokia 6300 phone as a modem by connecting to my laptop. At starting, connection established with the MTNL server on one go but i was not able to open any website and each time getting a error that "Address is taking to much time in opening the address/server busy" but on the same time when i open the same website in my phone it opens.

I also tried this on today morning but problem faced by me.

Looking forward to hear some experts comments on that....

Thanks

Hi umesh,

Yes dial up using mobile.when you connect internet through mobile it works as dial up modem only. But this dial up is different from landline dial up.Probably you are thinking that internet will get slow wtih dial up as in case of landline. But when you connect through 3G mobile, internet doesn't get slow. And more over there is no voice call and charges in mobile as it happens in Landline and also your mobile will not be engaged and you will be able to make & recive calls while surfing simultaneously.

hope this clarifies your doubts.

Regards

Hi,
Thanks for quick reply.. Do you mean dial up using mobile? If so does the connection get slower due to dialup? And are we charged for the call charges too? May be too many questions.
Take ur time.
Cheers.

No you can very much connect on vista too.It can get connected through PC studio 7 too,but I have checked in Samsung PC studio,MTNL default settings are not there and you can't enter new settings too.I can't say about your PC studio.Anyway just check in Internet connector of PC suite and if it allows to enter new settings then enter MTNL settings as given in the post and then try.But if it doesn't work then try dial up.It's not that difficult and is easy to use.If you have any other query or unable to connect through dial up even then can pls ask and we would be happy to help.
cheers
